For years I was hesitant to leave the security of a conventional occupation and forge my own path. My gut instinct told me that I would detest a typical, 9-to-5 job. But I reasoned that if there were so many people that hated their profession, they would be doing something different if it were possible. I trusted that “common knowledge” was accurate.
Well-meaning people will tell you what you should do, and you may feel like they know better than you, but it’s your life. The people who have lived the longest and therefore might be considered to know better than those who have less experience, are the ones who say they regret not following their heart.
